Eeew, icky carpet

Check out this foul carpet. Light brown, filthy and old - the trifecta of bad carpet qualities. My only requirement upon moving in - that my bare feet never steop on it. Luckily, we tore it up to find beautiful hardwood floors (yay for old houses!). As we pulled it up, we found a whole nest (farm?) of dead ants under that window. Sick! And whatever material is used between the floors and the carpet was mostly dust, a good deal glued to the floor still. A wallpaper scraper and a few hours later and our floors were sparkling (and dead ant-free).
