sleepy greta
Greta's Birth Story - We're lucky we made it to the hospital before she was born! Around midnight Sunday night, I started experiencing some wicked contractions. Unfortunately they weren't steady, just one every half hour or so. The rest of the night and morning, it was more of the same. I took walks, sat on my birthing ball, did anything to get things going. At 2:33 (I was keeping track), I had another wicked contraction and a small gush of fluid (I later found out, this was my water breaking). I could barely function I was in so much pain and had an intense urge to push. J eventually was able to get me out of the house (still wearing my wet pants and now grabbing my crotch "to hold the baby in." During our 15 minute drive the hospital, we cut off countless drivers, and committed a dozen traffic violations. I wasn't wearing my seatbelt and was squatting with my back to the car ceiling. Like a caged animal.
We finally made our way into the maternity ward, somehow convinced admitting to let us through without filling out all the paperwork. A quick exam revealed I was ready to go. A couple pushes later and Greta was born - only 40 minutes after my water broke!!
