The Aegidienkirche, today a monument to the war dead, was a hall church with retracted choir and transverse gable roof. The west end with portico wa added in 1703-17. Laves' interior of 1826-28 was an area for sermons with surrounding galleries, with industially produced cast iron sections as visible construction elements, after English models. The church was destroyed in WW II with the exception of the outer walls
