The Med, 5 miles off the coast of Rome.
Of the myriad of reason to shoot RAW, my absolute favorite is this: As time goes on you will become a better photographer. Along with that you will become a better editor. Not only that, but the systems and processes you use will become better as well. Shoot RAW, use Lightroom (or any non-destructive workflow tool) and YEARS later you can revisit your "negatives" as if you shot them yesterday.
Shot discipline is more important than processing. You can always fix the processing later as long as you nail the mechanics of the capture. That means know your camera. Some cameras handle highlight data better than shadows. Some shadows better than highlights. Expose so your camera is capture the most dynamic range possible.
Optimal Exposure + Correct Focus + Please Composition = Interesting Photo
