Painted Bunting

Back to the present.

According to eBird, they won't, and I shouldn't, reveal its location. Apparently they are being caught and imprisoned in people's homes. As you might imagine this impacts the perpetuation of the species. So their location is considered 'sensitive' information.

Cornell states "They are often caught and sold illegally as cage birds, particularly in Mexico and the Caribbean, a practice that puts pressure on their breeding populations."
