David Mor
lamp of the sightless
One of the perplexing verses in the Book of Deuteronomy (28:29) declares,
'And you shall grope at noonday as the blind gropes in darkness'
What difference does it make to someone who is blind whether it is night or day?
One sage had pondered over the very question for years until, one day in pitch-black night when he was walking alone he spotted a blind man walking with a torch in his hands.
He then asked the blind,
"Why do you carry a torch when it can't help you see?"
The man with the torch replied‘
"As long as the torch is in my hand, others can see me."
