Stadium High School; Tacoma, WA. Originally designed to be a hotel by architects Hewitt and Hewitt, construction on the main building began in 1891 by the Northern Pacific Railway and the Tacoma Land Company. Construction was halted by The Panic of 1893, and on October 11, 1898, the building was gutted by fire. The Tacoma School District purchased the building in 1904, to turn into a high school. The redesign and renovations were planned by the school's architect, Frederick Heath. The reconstructed building opened on September 10, 1906, as Tacoma High School. Seven years later, the name was changed to reference the adjacent Stadium Bowl, which opened in 1910.
