The Smith family cemetery, near Pelham Rd & I85 in Greenville, SC. 28 burials in this small family cemetery are being disinterred, and moved to another cemetery. The current landowner is trying to market the site, and wants the graveyard out of the way, because apparently the ability to make a few extra bucks is more important than showing respect for people that have rested there for close to 200 years. At least one grave, surrounded by the large pile of stones, has been identified as Stephen Smith, who at one time owned the land and died in 1816. The remains will be relocated to Wood Memorial Park in Greer, a barren field of plastic flowers.
