Much cheaper than buying a vintage DecTalk box (which might be better put to use by someone who needs it for daily life), here's a very simple talkbox based on the Parallax Emic 2 Text-to-Speech Module and an FTDI USB Serial module (from OSEPP).
Feed this text at 9600 baud serial, and you get Hawkingesque voice output.
