Commission Painting Completed

Finally, I can reveal the completed commissioned painting. There have been little snippets as I have gone along, but just portions because I was always worried the happy couple might see it!

This was not an easy painting - unlike the one for my friend Thienhuong which is just flowing. This painting involved some tough choices, the hardest of which was painting over the chequerboard floor I had so paintstakingly assembled.

Despite the struggle, in the end I found my way. Strangely enough, I found my way by returning to "my way". I started this painting with things I never do... such as a pencil sketch of the figure and a planned idea of what the finished piece would look like. Of course, the figure is not where it was in pencil; the head is entirely different and the planned ideas went out the window. It was a lesson in trusting intuition and leaving planning for my analytics at work.

In the end it is beautiful, it is generous, it is very special.

Materials: Golden Fluid Acrylics, C'aran Dache Neocolor I, light molding paste, gel medium, clear granular gel, collage, stamping & embossing powder and pen.
