Holywell - Porth to Perranporth walk: Week 25 of 52

I am *slowly* ticking off the SW Coastal path. In 2011 I set off to walk from St Ives to Newquay and only got as far as Perranporth before blistered and over estimation of my own abilities got the better of me, and I took the bus the last 10 miles. This week, I intended to put that right by walking that stretch as originally intended. I came up short in terms of my feet still blistering like a baby's, but I did make it from Porth to Perranporth in one go, with a backpack, and a couple of nights under canvas. The weather was very well suited to walking. Warm and sunny but not overly hot.

I travelled down on Monday, left my car in a camp site in Perranporth, and then took the bus to Porth, pitched my tent and the enjoyed a lovely warm evening on the beach in Porth. I walked along the headland, paddled in the warm sea, took pictures, and had a nice meal in the pub. On Tuesday walked back to Perranporth, via Lusty Glaze and Newquay, crossing the Gannel on the little ferry to Crantock, then Polly Joke, Holywell, and then along the three miles of sand of Perran beach (in my bare feet as my feet were killing by now). I got to the Wateringhole, had a pint and then walked gingerly to the campsite. I had a nice evening in the bar on the campsite chatting with the barman, Steve, and many of the campers. On Wednesday I went down to my flat in St Ives and had a quiet rest of the week, going up to meet Sarah in Cardiff on Friday and when with friends to a waterfall in the Brecon Beacons on Saturday. The weather, as you can see was glorious.
