"Dance & Drama from India" at Jacaranda Library, Nov. 2015

This program introduced the audience to the storytelling element of Bharatnatyam, the 2000 year old Indian dance. Teaching-artist Surapsari expresses multiple characters through her facial expressions, movement, poses, and symbolic hand gestures called mudra. The stories are usually taken from popular Hindu myths and epics. Nava Rasa (the nine fundamental emotions) was explored through lively enactment of storytelling in dazzling costume.

This program was part of Artists in the Libraries, 2015.
