Diversified field (Felix family)

Mrs Felix shows us round her diversified agroecological field. She has over 10 crops growing in it, including maize, beans, Congo peas, manioc and bananas. The permanent vegetation cover protects the soil from erosion, helping retain moisture and increase fertility. The diversified crops reduce the risks posed by adverse weather conditions: If one crop fails, another will do well.
