Flashy Things

A powerful supercell thunderstorm drops a large cloud-to-ground lightning bolt near Brownfield, Texas, in May 2025. Strong inflow winds from this storm kicked up a substantial dust storm which significantly limited visibility of the storm. This dangerous tornadic supercell would later go on to produce a couple of hidden dust-wrapped tornadoes as it tracked south over the open farm fields of West Texas toward Lamesa. Every summer severe thunderstorms like this one spawn hundreds of tornadoes across the Great Plains.
