Most important travel tip learned on this trip -- Do NOT fly Delta through Atlanta Hartsfield airport. Baaaaad idea.
My flight left Pgh late, because the plane arrived into Pgh late. Suffice to say, sprinting through the Atlanta airport did not do me any good. By the time I had waited an hour to get to the head of the ticketing line, I had already been back and forth on hold on the phone to Delta to rebook my flight.
In my case, I had made it to the gate, to see my plane still sitting there, for another 10 minutes even, but the gate door was already closed when I got there.
But, mine was not the best story. A rather attractive blonde woman behind me in line had also come in from Pgh.
She was booked on a once-a-day flight to Brazil. As she walked into the gate area of her flight, the gate agent saw her coming....
... and ran to get ahead of her, then closed the gate door in her face and said "it's closed."
I have since been told, that even other Delta employees hate dealing with Delta in Atlanta. I can certainly believe that.
Anyway.... this hanging light was in the airport bar in the Atlanta airport. The dinner voucher that Delta had given me paid for a beer, and the breakfast voucher paid for most of a quesadilla to sit next to it.
I had just barely made it in time for last call, at 9:30. Sheesh
