228 Theater tactical Signal Brigade Change of Command Ceremony

U.S. Army Soldiers and guests of the 228th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade, South Carolina Army National Guard, participate in a change of command ceremony held at the South Carolina National Guard and University Readiness Center, Spartanburg, South Carolina, Oct. 27, 2024. During the ceremony, the outgoing Brigade Commander, Col. Linda J. Riedel relinquished responsibility to the incoming Brigade Commander Col. Jeffrey A. Heaton. The change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition ensuring the continuation of authority and reciprocal allegiance between commanders and subordinates. The passing of the colors symbolizes the relinquishment of responsibility and accountability from one commanding officer to the next. The presiding officer, U.S. Army Brig. Gen. David Jenkins, spoke of the achievements of U.S. Army Col. Linda J. Riedel and welcomed U.S. Army Col. Jeffrey A. Heaton as the incoming commander. Special guests included U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Van McCarty, Adjutant General of South Carolina, U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Jeffrey Jones, Deputy Adjutant General of South Carolina, U.S. Army Brig. Gen.
