Duck Pond, Serpentine Fen, South Surrey, BC
Foggy days are one of my favorites for pictures. Fog obscures backgrounds and the soft fade into the distance gives a sense of depth and idealized infinity. What we imagine, just out of site, is often better, more interesting and personal than reality. Back-lit fog can produce a wide soft rainbow effect with one side of the picture cool and the other warm. I have done variations on this picture several times and will likely do more. These fog pictures remind me of the turn of the century Pictorialist photography- idealized and romanticized.
