Flickr Red Day protest
The sad and sorry fact is that out of 14 million members only a minority care enough to protest. Remember that petition a few months ago? The last time I looked it was struggling to get a miserable 10,000 signatures.
I hate the new version - I can't read the white on black type without a struggle, the controls are complex and squeezing the comment strip in on the right of the photo is a horrible mess.
But I fear that flickr only cares about the money it makes - FROM US ! Not the subscription money, but the amount the advertisers pay them. We count for nothing. There will always be millions who post their photos here and do nothing with them, don't make friends, don't respond to contacts, don't post to groups.
It makes me very sad to see my once-favourite photo site going to wrack and ruin.
And the saddest fact of all: by protesting we are just increasing our view counts and flickr will make yet more money out of us. SICK JOKE ON US !
