Leiden lovers
While Amsterdam may be the Venice of the North, Leiden is likely the most beautiful college town I've seen. Leiden University was founded by William of Orange in 1575 "as a reward for the city's brave resistance to the Spanish siege". This city of 100,000 or so is also famous stateside for being the location where the Pilgrims found safe haven before the Mayflower sailed, and where the Pilgrim Press was located. Taken on Saturday morning, once the market was set up.
