Western Brook Pond III

Well, it was inevitable: with no new shooting for me and travel still seemingly far off, I took a dive into my archives. I went back on old trips and found images I'd never shown before or which I processed in a significantly different way. I hope you enjoy this trip back through the last few years.

This is Western Brook Pond in Newfoundland. "Pond" makes it sound like a placid, peaceful place, but it's is, in fact, a wonderfully dramatic fjord, with steep mountains on either side, carved out by glaciers. Now cut off from the sea (hence the name 'pond'), most people view it, as I did, by boat after a lovely, gentle 3 kilometer walk from the road (and seaside). This image was taken near the end of the lake and the small waterfall you can see is the delightfully-named Pissing Mare Falls.

From the archives: Newfoundland, 2015.

If you'd like to see more of my images from this part of the world, take a look at my Newfoundland album or my Maritimes album.
