1937 TATRA T87 Limuzína

Another car in a museum presentation. Another car which deserves this high status as a style icon.

1930s Tatra's had a revolutionairy design, both in shape as in technology: aircooled V8 in a super aerodynamic form.

The Tatra 87 was designed by Hans Ledwinka (1878-1967) for Tatra-Werke, Nesselsdorf / Koprivnice (Czech republic).

What bothers me is the little international recognition Tatra got in general. Some years ago there was the official 100th anniversary of the automobile. It got quite a lot of attention in the press. Automotive journalists and other specialists were ask to make a list of the 100 most important and influential cars in automotive history. Tatra wasn't represented in that list. To my opinion it wasn't just and in fact incredible.

The presence in this exposition can be considered as an appropriate rehabilitation.

Seen in the Design section of the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich.
