The 2CV was originally introduced in 1948 and designed by a team lead by André Lefèbvre and Flaminio Bertoni.
The 2CV Charleston model was launched in Oct. 1980. It was originally planned as a limited edition, but it became so popular that it was continued as a standard model since July 1981.
At first the Charleston was only available in red and black. Later also other colour combinations were for sale.
