Ever get those days when you wake in the morning with an urgent question that needs answering? Not every day thankfully, but the shape of a piece of 'farfalle' pasta must have invaded my dreamspace. And the butterfly (as I'm sure you'll understand) is the footprint left between two 120 spools standing side by side.

So, the question was what is the smallest 120 pinhole camera I could make with all mod cons (pod-socks and bubbles) that would still have a worthwhile image area?

This ... and it's 95x42x78mm, or less than 4"x3"x2" in olde English. This is a roller, gate, and spring-free vehicle, so both the image size and the focal length vary just a little as the roll progresses, since one roll is getting smaller while the other is filling up. Average image size is 60x40mm. Focal length is around 20mm so it's carrying an RSS 0.2mm pinhole.

If I ever learn to count properly I should be able to get 16 images with quite a nice format proportion.

I've named all my other cameras, usually with something that reflects their make up. This one though, is simply Black Box Number Seven (BB#7) as it's the seventh black box.
