White-Cheeked Barbet
The White-cheeked Barbet, also called the Small Green Barbet (megalaima viridis) is a species of small barbet found in southern India. They are endemic to the forest areas of the Western Ghats and adjoining hilly areas. Like all other Asian barbets they are mainly frugivorous although they may sometimes eat insects and small reptiles. They use their powerful bills to excavate nest cavities in trees.
