White-Throated Kingfisher
Did not have to get off the car to click this shot. The bird was perched on a wall and was not too bothered by our presence. Though I have many shots of the White-throated Kingfisher this by far is the most detailed. Also known as the White-breasted Kingfisher or Smyrna Kingfisher, this is a tree kingfisher. The tree kingfishers are short-tailed large-headed compact birds with long pointed bills and are brightly coloured. Most are monogamous and territorial, nesting in holes in trees or termite nests.
