A Panorama of Pamban Railway Bridge

This is india's second largest sea bridge after bandra worly sea link bridge. One of the oldest, it was started in 1887 and completed and open to public in 1914.

This british time bridge is placed in one of worlds highly corrosive environment and is still functioning well. This cantilever bridge is engineering marvel, where the middle portion of the bridge can be folded up to let the big ships, oil tankers pass below it.

The part of the bridge is devastated in 1964 cyclone. While railways gave time for 6 months to repair it, Mr. E Sreedharan (kolkota metro and delhi Metro Man) had finished work in record 46 days. This was later converted from meter guage to broad guage and connects thousands of pilgrims travelling to Rameshwaram by train.

As the bridge is pretty old times, to add to the mood, converted to sepia BnW.
