This postcard depicts the Institute of Science in Mumbai, India formerly known as the Royal Institute of Science. It is managed by the Government of Maharashtra and is affiliated with the University of Mumbai. The Institute of Science offers postgraduate education and research in physics, chemistry, biology, microbiology, mathematics, biochemistry, biotechnology, and environmental science. The institute was founded by George Clarke, 1st Baron Sydenham of Combe and funded by private donations. The foundation stone was designed by George Wittet and laid in 1911.
