To my friend Romeo....

.

A post for my dear friend Romeo~

Every time we say good bye ...

.

Everytime we say goodbye, I die a little,

Everytime we say goodbye, I wonder why a little,

Why the God above me, who must be in the know.

Think so little of me, they allow you to go.

When you're near, there's such an air of spring about it,

I can hear a lark somewhere, begin to sing about it,

There's no love song finer, but how strange the change from major to

minor,

Everytime we say goodbye...

When you're near, there's such an air of spring about it,

I can hear a lark somewhere, begin to sing about it,

There's no love song finer, but how strange the change from major to

minor,

Everytime we say goodbye.

As humans we are social creatures embodied with a need for others who we call friends to enjoy our company and vice versa. We need and desire to have friends as a means of support to our human design. We enjoy being around others; from time to time we may even go out of our way to seek friend's company at a particular time be it a time of need-distress or a time of joy-happiness. Friends have a certain quality fulfilling where we may feel shorthanded or especially vulnerable. I have COME TO REALIZE THAT true friends are rare like a gem; nearby at hand if we are able to recognize what a true friend is; instead of a person only reflecting what we want to hear; or afar when we see the solitude required for our emotional balance... We need that constant companionship; those often thought provoking moments late on a Wednesday night. Those “listening to music so loud in a car that your ear drums could burst” moments – but you don’t care because you’re too happy – those are the great parts of life. Whether near or far, true friends are never apart from us no matter what the circumstances may be; especially when outside of our control

I’ve found that when it comes to friendships, we often befriend people who are similar to us yet still manage to make up for what we lack. We need those types of relationships to add balance to our lives, especially when it gets difficult. Best friends allow you to make mistakes and love you anyway. However, they aren’t afraid to say you’re being an idiot. They aren’t afraid of hurting each other's feelings because good intentions are always obvious. Friends are also our biggest encouragers. They recognize your desire and need to grow and they do so with you. Through growth and change you grow separately so that you can continue to grow together. Friends are there to laugh and cry with you.

Someone told me many years ago: "Every man deserves a good dog; a good wife and a good friend" I always felt my cup has runneth over when my best friend Romeo was there to console me when times were hard; to cheer me up when a new perspective in life for the betterment of my destiny was at hand; when a serious decision required a listening ear and so many times too long to list now...It is with a full heart, filled with the most sincere admiration & love I have traveled many miles in this life alongside one I have always considered my best friend. From our infancy in part thanks to both my and parents and his, (Who were also best of friends) Romeo and I have come to appreciate each other to the full extent of the term we use for FRIEND. When time came for us to begin raising some mallard ducks in honor of my maternal grandmother; the obvious name for the only drake in the group had to be Romeo; as if preselected by life itself, our feathered friend has lived up to his name in so many aspects of his young yet lively life to the delight of everyone in our family. Just like Romeo....

For him is this photo and all the words therein....

When you're lost in the eternity of sorrow

And despair flows in every vessel within you

There's always a comrade, like a hero

Who lightens and settles your life to glow.

When you're carrying an aching burden

And the purpose of your life's left hidden

There's always an angel from the heavens

Who breaks the rules which are forbidden

And saves you from the tomb of desperation.

A comrade, a hero, an angel...

Whatever you call him, he's a friend

Who listens, who comforts, who understands

And who's worthy to be one of a kind.

Rare as is true love, true friendship is rarer. True friendship ought never to conceal what it thinks. I define friendship as a bond that transcends all barriers. When you are ready to expect anything and everything from friends, good, bad or ugly... that's what I call true friendship. True friendship can afford true knowledge. It does not depend on darkness and ignorance. Sustaining true friendship is a lot more challenging than we give it credit for.

To my dear friend Romeo
