Our winter cabin story continues.

Part 2

July 2-2019

From our family album.

The story continues. When my brother Ricky asked about some photos taken years ago; I shared the story when grandpa had a "hunting cabin" as he called the place where we use to go in Autumn or Winter to spend a few days away from home in Texas. The view from the living area towards the lake was spectacular; what I enjoyed most as a very young man was the trip to a place seemingly so far yet familiar for we spent many years as a family surrounded by mountains covered in piñon trees sometimes blanketed in snow. I remember those days fondly but it did not last long; when dad passed followed shortly by grandpa's demise we stopped all travels and the cabin became a mere memory. I had almost forgotten all about such heartwarming place until the day I found all the photos tucked away as many others in one of my mother's many trunks filled with family memorabilia. Ricky wanted to know what had happened to the cabin; I had no idea but managed to recall enough details to satisfy his curiosity. Little did I know he was not satisfied. Armed with my limited information and unknown to me he decided to do some research until he located what used to be the family retreat. His determination lead him to acquire (A very long story for another time) back the abandoned place and one day almost three years ago he took me there to see what he had just found to my family's surprise-delight. However, he did not stop there; under his guidance, armed with copies of mom's photos and information we discovered in some letters; he decided to restore-update the place and have it for our family to enjoy Autumn and Winter long weekends in a place with so many great memories. December 2018 was the first time we all gather to enjoy-celebrate our first ever Wintertime family reunion. I couldn't be happier or more proud of my brother; I'd like to think grandpa has been guiding Ricky to bring back his dream!

♪♪♪♪ I also would like to think Mom and Dad have been looking after Ricky my only surviving brother all these years.

Recently while talking to our youngest nephew my thoughts go back to years gone by long time ago when my grandpa decided to keep a "hunting cabin" for the family to spend time in summers especially for my mom-dad who loved to go skiing.

Some photos in my mom's collection made me think what a grand time we use to spend in late fall going to the cabin even if it was only for a long weekend. I'm sure if grandpa was here; he'd be very pleased to see the place is still there revisited by our next generation of winter time lovers. This post is in particular for Ryan; JJ, Ricky and my wife who enjoy very much spending time at the cabin.

The reward is a post taken during a trip to the mountains with my brother recently while we traveled to New mexico and Colorado, USA area.

Have a wonderful days friends.
