It's been a wonderful life!

.

A post for my family and friends. April is a wonderful time of the year for very special family reasons.

Living out here in West Texas has many advantages for our way of life. When we speak of our neighbor, we could be saying the closest family living several miles away from our place. In this case, our neighboring town Fredericksburg, Texas is actually about a two hour drive from home. San Angelo, Texas is about 1.5 hour drive, one of our favorite cities; Austin, Texas is a mere 4 hour drive.... ♪♪♪♪♪♪♪

The Texas motto: Texas is like a whole other country is certainly true in this case.

A quote from my latest family book:

"A creek in the rear patio provided sustenance to the many pecan and fig trees turning summers into visual feasts for all sense extending into the early fall and sometimes even the winters as if they were permanent guests to my maternal grandparents house…for me as a mere child of five and six years; I consider their place a magical forest where an eternal abundance of fruits were there for the taking. Many a day my grandparents would find me sitting under one of the fruit trees waiting for a peach or an apple to fall to the ground so I could enjoy the precious gifts coming down... Even as a child I knew this was a place unique to those who have made it their goal to work the earth. I would see my grandparents, my uncles and aunts toil the soil late in the afternoon and early evening with so much delight! Work was a word used regularly as a blessing; I learned from observing the results of working hard. Their talk, conversation and merry-making was music to my ears that even today when I close my eyes I can see-hear as sharp as if we were all there right now….I was their first grandchild, I was my grandparents favorite and I loved spending summers at their house. The seeds of farming were planted by my maternal side of the family early on in my mind and continue to grow till today while ranching was imbedded in my being by my paternal grandparents. Today as we look forward to our family future I can’t help to think how much we are a product of our environment…."

Enjoy your day friends.
