Amongst friends ... the power of words & friends

I’m not much into the social scene locally; when I heard about these two gentlemen attending an upcoming mixer I decided it was time to change my ‘ol habits. You see, the gentleman on left, Mr. Phillips has been a friend of my family for quite some time. He knew my parents as well as my grandparents. Mr. W. on right knew my grandparents’ for ever… we visited over the family history as most acquaintances’ would’ve done recalling some details almost forgotten; I was very happy to have been there and learn some information on my grandparents. When Mr. Phillips said: “Your grandpa would’ve been very proud of you young one”….he almost brought me to tears! Mr. Phillips is 79 yrs. while his counterpart a mere 76! I’m 6' 4" but felt like a child amongst a land of giants in more ways than one. Never underestimate the power of a kind word spoken at the right time friends…

 

 

Needles to say; It was an excellent evening! I had a grand ol time visiting with people who made me feel like I was amongst family friends.
