Party City interior

Party City #843 (14,002 square feet)

4107 Portsmouth Boulevard, Suite 116, The Crossroads at Chesapeake Square, Chesapeake, VA

Opened in January 2013; originally part of T.J. Maxx (1991-March 24th, 2011)

The last closing Party City I took a look at was the Chesapeake Greenbrier store, which shows how the company's newest and final aesthetic fit into a 2010s-opened location. On the flipside, their other Chesapeake store across from Chesapeake Square is a year older than Greenbrier, but is the same size and still has its' original look and layout intact; Greenbrier was also a store with a horizontal layout, while Chesapeake Square is vertical. At this store, the counter area/balloon fill station is in the front left corner, and the salesfloor is dominated by floor-to-ceiling gondolas and walls almost entirely covered in shelving and particleboard; essentially, they were using Bed Bath & Beyond's old "fill every possible space with product" way of merchandising. The ceiling is warehouse-style, and the flooring is mostly white confetti tiles with some black confetti tiles towards the back. This look is what Greenbrier would've originally had, and it's really quite amazing what a night-and-day difference there is between the company's two looks. I've made it clear that the company really stuck the landing with their final look, but I'll also acknowledge that this older appearance is super iconic, even if this particular variation is on the plain side since it doesn't even have the wall decals and purple paint job seen at a store like Virginia Beach.
