Regal Commerce Center interior
Regal Commerce Center (75,785 square feet)
2399 Route 1 South, North Brunswick, NJ
Opened March 5th, 1999
This Regal was right down the street from the hotel I was staying at, so catching a movie here was a priority! The location features a refreshed version of their typical 90s look, with design elements that could be found at other turn-of-the-millennium locations such as Short Pump and MacArthur Center. The former box office is the first thing you see upon entry, which is located within a spacious curved vestibule. Inside the lobby are more curved pieces of décor/architecture, including some fantastic purple/yellow/red neon lights around the perimeter of the space. The auditoriums are split evenly between two corridors, with 1-9 to the left and 10-18 to the right. These corridors appear to have been updated around the time that the auditoriums were renovated, as they have a more muted color palette and newer-looking carpeting compared to the lobby's over-the-top appearance, though certain things in some areas have seen slight modifications, such as the tile below the box office window switching from purple/white/teal to tan. These types of Regal remodels where the lobbies are left untouched don't really seem to happen anymore, so I can't help but wonder if locations like this and Strawbridge Marketplace will continue to retain their current appearances before the decade ends.
