Artist's Inspiration

This past weekend was very fun and relaxing as I spent it up north in Lynden. I really wanted to catch sunrise in the area but the two hour drive up the mountain is just not very fun when you have to wake up and leave at 3 AM. I did get up once and sunrise was a bust on Sunday morning. You win some you lose some. This image was taken on Friday evening which I wasn't even planning on really coming up here that night after such a long drive to the campground but decided that I should at least scope out what I wanted to shoot for the weekend. Turns out this was the best night out of the whole weekend! Lucky me. (actually very lucky, the south side of the North Cascades (HWY 20) got hit hard with thunderstorms and took out a lot of the roads including the main highway - 60 hikers got trapped Sunday-Monday.)

Captured on the way back down from the top of Artist Point along the ridgeline; truly one of the best 360 views in the world. Also, Friday night has to be one of the best sunsets of the year that I've experience so I hopefully have a few more of that evening to share. Hope everyone is having a great week and Happy Friday!
