Escalante is by far my favorite place on earth, well, and the Mojave Desert around Joshua Tree, California.
Late last year, President Donald Trump ordered half the land here to be eliminated, with the hopes of mining for natural resources, and making the monument more “tourist friendly”. End game - land grabbing for money.
These canyons are now out of NPS’ hands, they’re no longer protected.
I never imagined something like this would happen, I also never imagined it would happen somewhere I love so dearly.
