Rocinha Favela, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

A visit to the largest unnofficial neighborhood in Brazil, home to around 150,000 people, the favela known as Rocinha. Last two photos are of a smaller favela nearby, housing around 2,500 people. There are more than 900 seperate favelas in Rio, and none of them appear on city maps. Their combined population makes them amount to nearly half of the city's estimated 10- 12 million.
