The destination of this trip was Madeleine Island. Not easy to get there, after comparing flying and driving, finally decided driving there. Here was the path: Ontario – Quebec – New Brunswick – Prince Edward Island – Madeleine Island. Entering PEI, I needed to show fully vaccination certification from government, also took swab test at entrance on the end of Confederation Bridge. From PEI, took 5 hours ferry to Madeleine Island. The funny thing was waiting for the ferry, there were about 400 cars waiting ferry to the island, every car was fully packed inside, all the cars waiting in the line to get into the ferry, including the AV and RV, whenever people opened the trunk, the stuff jumped out of the trunk… It made me feel there were lack of food and other things on the island…
First day was camping, set up the tent, rushing to one of the lighthouse on the island. It supposed to rain, but the sky was beautifully showed before my lens… 😊
PS: The Magdalen Islands (French: Îles de la Madeleine) are a small archipelago in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. The islands are in fact closer to the Maritime provinces and Newfoundland than to the Gaspé Peninsula on the Quebec mainland. The islands were once completely covered with pine forests. An ancient salt dome underlies the archipelago. The salt's inherent buoyancy forces the uplift of the overlying Permian red sandstone. Until the 20th century, the islands were completely isolated during the winter since the pack ice made the trip to the mainland impassable by boat. The islands had no means of communication with the mainland.
