The photographer was George Springthorpe. He was born in Stamford Lincolnshire c 1824 and was living at 18 Tacket St Ipswich on the 1871 & 1881 census. By 1891 he had moved to Whitstable. This photo must therefore date to between 1870's and 1880's
His father was a painter. By 1861 he was living in Margate with his wife Caroline Foat who was from this area and working as a photographic artist. By c1868 he had moved to Ipswich and his latest child Napoleon one of seven was born in 1871
Part of a set of cdv's I bought at a car boot for 20p each or 4 bob as the stall holder said. He'd got them from a house clearance in London
