CDV Portrait of a Gentleman by Taylor of Ipswich
The photographer was Arthur Thomas Taylor who was born in Ipswich Suffolk c 1855
The 1891 census lists him living at 77 Fore St with his wife Harriet and 6 children. The previous census in 1881 lists him working as a hair dresser at the same address. So at some point during the 1880's he switched profession from hairdresser to photographer
However his life as a photographer was to be short as by 1901 the census lists him as a Hotel Proprietor at 202 Cauldwell hall road. Perhaps the photographer business had paid well enough for him to afford to change career again
By the 1911 census he had had another change of occupation and address as he was now a Licensed Victualler at the Silver Star, Public House, Vernon St, Ipswich
He also had had 11 children with his wife Harriet Norton also from Ipswich
He died in 1924 in Ipswich
