I had never been this close to such a big bird of prey. What a majestic and powerful creature.
No, the red smudge on the beak is not a telltale clue left by some hapless visitor's errant fingers. It is a remnant from the bird's chicken snack.
As I have learned, Eagles are panting in hot weather to cool off. That's what this bird is doing: panting to cool off.
