D&G Bus 30 (SL64JGF) 13042018a
Following Cheshire East Council’s supported bus service review, the Monday to Sunday and Bank Holidays route 200 between Wilmslow and Manchester Airport operated by Springfield Bus & Coach was withdrawn from 31 March 2018 and replaced by an extension of D&G Bus commercial Monday to Saturday route 130 linking Macclesfield with Manchester Airport via Wilmslow operated from 1 April 2018. D&G Bus had started to operate route 130 between Macclesfield and the Handforth Dean Retail Park from 29 January 2018 but the route ceased to serve the Colshaw Farm Estate and Handforth Dean from the end of March.
D&G Bus 30 (SL64JGF) was photographed leaving Macclesfield bus station for Manchester Airport on 13 April 2018. This Alexander Dennis E20D with 39 seat Enviro 200 bodywork was new to South Lancs Travel in January 2015 but was transferred to D&G Bus before South Lancs was sold to Rotala in March 2015.
D&G subsequently announced that route 130 would be withdrawn after 16 June 2018 because insufficient passengers were being carried to cover the operating costs.
The sculpture next to the bus by artist Andrew Smith was commissioned by Cheshire County Council and symbolises Macclesfield's silk manufacturing history, containing elements of a weaving loom.
