School Lane, Laneshawbridge

Historically, the name of Laneshawbridge, Colne – Lancashire could be traced back all the way to the times of William, their so-called Conqueror. It used to be called "The Brig" which started when William whom they called the conqueror shared some pieces of land to the Emmott Family. Later on this family gave more lands to the town as military support and eventually, they put up a hamlet which they called the "Eamot" and which sooner became known as Laneshawbridge. Just beside it you can find the Emmott House which was put up way back in 1737. In case you are not aware of it,it was actually the Emmott family that owned majority of Laneshawbridge
