you don't know me
Last week I went to Paris, and I was really surprised at the cultural differences between France(Paris) and the UK. One of the things that shocked me the most when I got back to the UK was how tired everyone looked. Nobody was smiling, everyone seemed pretty glum and worn out. I went out that night and saw the norm - teenagers out and about drinking in the park, smoking in the bushes, people in very little clothing and other people puking up on the street. Pretty standard for a Saturday night in the UK. Then I logged onto dailymail.co.uk and saw this photographer's work. It is pretty heartbreaking to look at, and it made me think about how fast we all seem to have grown up. I don't want to offend anyone here, or alienate people and critize them because everyone has their own reasons for doing things and choosing to do things, but what I wanted to show in this series is what it would look like to see the kids we all used to be doing what we do now. Everyone seems to be so tired and it seems that that excitement that life had when we were little has kind of faded out. Everyday I see people that look totally worn and tired, and then I think of what they were like as kids and wonder how it would have looked.
So this is the first in this series, showing smoking. My dad smokes, and I know he does it to de-stress and relax because he works such long hours. Its sad.
No kids are going to be made to smoke/do any of activities represented in this series.
