Snowshoe Sunrise

I was "cleaning house" on my external drive this week, and ran across this shot from last year's record snowfall in the California Sierra. So much snow had fallen that an avalanche closed the road into Emerald Bay for the entire winter. Myself and few friends put on our snowshoes, and hiked into Emerald Bay in the dark. It was surreal walking on virgin snow five to six feet above highway 89. As the sun rose I decided to plant my tripod in this location which is a perspective you could only get if the road was closed. It was well worth the effort!

I'm hoping we have another good winter in California!

Thanks for looking!
