The wife of my friend, Ashulal Bishnoi cooks in her small hut kitchen at her home in Ramdavaas village near Jodhpur.
Ashulal became my friend at Pushkar fair when he offered me camel milk tea, after I clicked his picture, instead of, like others, asking for money. I spent a day with the family on my visit this year to their village home and this has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life, learning about the great Bishnoi faith (these are the people who laid down their lives to save the trees) and experiencing their kindness, hospitality and selflessness, left a lasting impression on me. In-spite of nature being not too kind to them - water being scarce and salty and the land unproductive, they carry on with life with a smile on their faces and courage in their hearts.
