Spirit

Spirit.

A new take on the enigmatic sea stack at Ballydwane on the Copper Coast where I hosted a workshop last weekend. We were blessed with lovely cloud cover and calm seas all weekend.

I had shot this composition the night before the workshop but there was too much seaweed and stones in the foreground. I had a hunch that if I cleared the larger seaweed and stones from a stretch of beach the smaller shingle would be dragged back in to the sea with the receding tide.

We got there early and I cleared this stretch of beach as the tide came in, as the tide turned and receded all the small clutter was drawn back in to the sea and left a super smooth surface, I wasn't sure if it would work but i was delighted when it did.

I have just had a cancellation on a workshop in Venice for the 24-27th Nov if anybody might be interested, please message me for details.

Also, I was delighted to be featured in Andrew Gibson's new Ebook. Full of insights and images (120 in all) from these brilliant photographers:

Trevor Cotton, Håkan Strand Arnaud Bertrande, Red Ognita Mike Diblicek, Andy Brown, David Frutos Nate Parker, Thomas Leong, Thibault Roland and Nathan Wirth.
