Moonlighting

The Fastnet Lighthouse is set on a large rock off the coast of West Cork, where I live. The nearest land is 4 miles away and is Cape Clear Island. To shoot it I had to get a ferry and stay the night on the island.

The beam can be seen for 15 miles on a clear night and lights up the whole island every 6 secs or so.

I waited for the moon to arrive directly above the Lighthouse to provide some backlight to the lighthouse and rock so their shape could be seen. It also lightened the whole scene and reduced any noise that might have been apparent with shooting at midnight.
