Zenaida Dove - Zenaida aurita zenaida

Zenaida aurita zenaida is a subspecies of Zenaida Dove endemic to the Greater Antilles and the Bahamas in the Caribbean Sea.

 

This particular ruddy-brown bird with purplish spots, known locally as the Pea Dove, came down to drink at a puddle which the hotel gardener kindly refilled for me each day with a hosepipe at Negril, a beach resort town on the west coast of Jamaica.
