Pale Tussock - Calliteara pudibunda larva

Each time I find the caterpillar of the Pale Tussock moth the hairs are a different colour to the last one! For comparison, just take a look at the previous two photos I posted recently.

The body is generally greenish-yellow or even bright yellow, with black hairs and tufts of bristles on the fourth to seventh segments, each separated by a black ring. These rings are more visible as the larva curls or arches. This slow-growing caterpillar should pupate by late September or early October and overwinter in a silken cocoon spun among Blackthorn leaf litter.

Thanks for your visit… Any comment you make on my photograph is greatly appreciated and encouraging! But please do not use this image without permission.
