Light Emerald - Campaea margaritaria larva

While collecting a few twigs of Sallow (Salix) today, I found this 33mm larva of Light Emerald moth at Stanton in Gloucestershire. This caterpillar is easy to identify because of its "skirt" a fringe of hair-like structures along the lower parts. As moth expert Roy Leverton told me today: the 'skirt' of fine hairs plus the small extra proleg = Light Emerald !
